The country road didn't take me home, it was more like Emirates Airline... But it doesn't rhyme so it can't be a song.
I'm back in England Again, let's begin! On the flight to my stopover, fortunately, it wasn't too long, I tried not to sleep on the plane ride, as the jetlag would have been horrendous, and unfortunately, I fell asleep, I woke up quite a few hours later, the guy beside me DID NOT KNOW the definition of space. He took my armrest, and his legs were in the way of my legroom, all I could do was move closer to the window, luckily. The window seat has always been my favourite seat on a plane, as I always feel like you're outside the plane when you look out the window, and when you sleep you can lean on the side. Another thing on the plane I really liked was the dotted lights on the ceiling of the plane when I was watching Robin Hood (The one with Taron Egerton. Or you may know him as Eggsy from Kingsman). I felt like I was watching it under the stars.
When I landed in Dubai, I was in awe at the amazement of how big the airport was and how beautiful the architecture was, with all the elevators, the trains, and the bus. While I was heading to my gate, I really wanted to walk there to see more of the architecture, but every time I'd follow the signs, they would always lead me to an elevator or a train. While riding the train, it felt like I was in the underground, just a bit cleaner. Overall going to my gate felt like an adventure on its own.
While waiting to board my next flight at the gate, I was admiring the architecture, and how the wall curves as it rises up to the ceiling, along with with the mosaic type windows with Arabic patterns on them, I wish I could go there more often.
Seated beside me were these two adorable children, I'm not sure if they were twins or not. Well, the boy kept looking at me as if he wanted to talk to me, and when I said "Hi" he then immediately turned away. Along with that, I got to catch up on some homework since I won't be in school for a week. I got to also watch some "I.T. Crowd" on my Netflix account while waiting, it made me laugh at some point and I think the guy beside me was judging, well at least I enjoyed it.
We finally were told to board, and when I got on my seat it wasn't a window seat, but it was a middle seat and I still got see outside of the plane. Through the flight I just watched a few movies, I tried to sleep through it mainly, But mostly, I just watched movies, I watched "Into the Spider-verse", "The Greenbook" & "Aquaman" (That movie was just really bad. It felt as if the movie was just made for the sake of it. The love story between the two main characters didn't make sense, considering they only got to know each other in one day).
When I finally landed, I went to the baggage carrier, and I went out, I saw my brother, we ate a bit of food, then went outside to get an Uber.
As soon as I got outside, I said, "This is summer?!" It was so cool. There was a breeze and the temperature was just right, but I still needed my jumper.
When I was in the car I was looking at the environment and I was reminiscing about when I was a kid and my mum and I would be driving around the area I grew up as an infant. We arrived in Staines and I was immediately reminded of when I was 6 years old, and my mum would take me shopping. Although, many things have changed, such as a few shops have been replaced, and there was now a hotel there.
After, my brother and I then went to the home of our family friends, whom we've known since before I was born. THE HICKMANS! Growing up, we always went to their house for tea, events, and just to hang out really. And when we arrived, who better to greet us, then the cutest dog, Hugo (He was a mix of a cocker spaniel and a poodle) and Dan (He currently lives in Australia, so I haven't seen him in quite a while). We caught up a bit, we went outside, along with Joe (he was Dan's brother). I was enjoying the sun since in the Philippines the summer is really HOT and HUMID, to the point where you can barely breathe, so it was really relaxing to have a summer that wasn't too hot. After Relaxing for a bit, we decided to have early dinner at NANDO'S in town. I had a grilled chicken wrap, it was really good. Along with the grilled chicken, I had a corn on a Cobb. Honestly, if anyone goes to the UK, one of the first meals I recommend you have, is in Nando's. It's like being in peri-peri heaven.
We then went off to wander around the shops. We went on to Sports Direct and saw that it was shutting down. When I lived in the UK, we would get nearly all of our sports gear from there, so it was devastating to see that it was being shut down. (It wasn't just that sports direct, but I don't think this is the only outlet closing down). When we got back to the house, we once again chilled, had some tea. Joanne and Simon arrived back and told us that Hugo was stung by a bee in one of the bushes, so he was limping, he wasn't eating that much, but he seemed really lively for a dog that had just been stung. While hanging out, I got to pitch in my blog, and what's in it at the moment. We talked about quite a lot, like football (obviously, if you do not know my family, that is majority f the conversations) Simon then helped us travel to where we're staying, the sun was still up and it was around 10:00 pm. So when we arrived at the Air BnB and I was about to sleep. The Sun had just gone down. But I was really happy about my first day back. I got to experience truly being home during Summer.
